Diane Sawyer Live: An Exclusive Interview with Miss Piggy

2013, Performance/Video, 11mins
Miss Piggy speaks with Diane Sawyer about her new celebrity cause – Ecology, her chance encounters with earth goddesses – Sita, Loowit, and Gaia – from different mythological traditions, and their gift of a human-powered energy solution for the production her upcoming directorial debut – Escape from Taxidermy. This project was first performed at Montclair State University in 2013 as the culmination of a semester long art residency in the Physics Department (funded by the American Physics Association), where I collaborated with Prof. Ashwin Vaidya and his students to develop hand-crank and bicycle-powered solutions to provide energy for the making of the film.

24 hours of hand-cranking provided enough energy to record 1 minute worth of footage (using an iPod) for the trailer. The rest of the segments were recorded and edited off a battery that was powered using bicycles. It took 2-3 hours of biking to generate 8 hours of battery power.
